Manbulsa, which literally means '' The Temple of 10,000 Buddhas.'' is a recently built (in 1995) large Buddhist temple in Yeongcheon-si, South Korea. That name of the temple suits the temple very well as there are more than 17 000 smaller buddha statues about 15 cms tall with Korean names engraved at the bottom of each statue and a tiny lamp above it.
As I got to know, any person after paying some money to the monastery (approximately 5,000 won a month) receives this composition _ the small Buddha statue plus lantern _ which is installed in the shrine room. On the lower part of the statue the name of the owner or some other person can be written.
Besides these, there is s a 33m Amita Buddha, said to be the the largest in Korea and a 4 meters high and 13 meters long reclining Buddha statue which is also said to be the largest Buddha staue made of brass. There is a large area reserved for graves in the temple ground. People come to pay respect to their dead relatives and perform traditional rituals. The Bodhi sapling planted in the temple ground is a branch of the Bodhi tree in Bodhgaya, India the place where Buddha attained enlightenment. Sri Lanka, the island nation in Indian ocean also has donated Buddha's Saririka, dhatu or relics ( a bead like remains of burnt body of the Buddha) to this temple for reverence.
මෑතකදී එනම් ක්රි.ව. 1995 වසරේදී ඉදිකරන ලද, සිංහල බසින් "දසදහසක් බුදුවරැ වැඩසිටින විහාරය" යන අරුත් ඇති මාන්පුල්සා විහාරය, දකුණු කොරියාවේ ක්යොන්සන්බුක්දෝ පළාතේ යොංචොන් ප්රදේශයේ මනස්කාන්ත පරිසරයක පිහිටි ප්රසිද්ධ විහාරස්ථානයකි. මෙම විහාරයේ නමට ගැළපෙන ලෙසම, විහාරස්ථානයේ පිරමීඩාකාරව ඉදිරකර ඇති බුදුගෙය තුළ සෙ.මී. 15ක් පමණ උස රන්පැහැති කුඩා බුදුපිළිම 17 000 කට අධික ප්රමාණයක් තැන්පත් කර ඇති අතර, ඒ සෑම ප්රතිමාවකම පහළින් කොරියානු ජාතිකයෙකුගේ නමක් කොටා ඇත.
මා දැනුවත් වූ පරිදි, විහාරස්ථානයට යම් මුදලක් පරිත්යාග කිරීමෙන් පසු ( දළ වශයෙන් මසකට කොරියන් වොන් 5000 ක මුදලක්) එම පිළිමගෙය තුළ පිළිමයක් වෙන් කරවා ගත හැකි අතර, එහි තමන්ගේ නම හෝ තමන් කැමති අයෙකුගේ නමක් සඳහන් කරවා ගත හැක.
මෙම විහාර භූමියේ පිහිටි මීටර් 33ක් උස අමිත බුද්ධ ප්රතිමාව කොරියාවේ විශාලම හිටි පිළිමය ලෙස සැළකේ. මී. 4ක් උස සහ මී. 13ක් පළල පිත්තල බුදුපිළිමය ද කොරියාවේ එවැනි වර්ගයේ විශාලම ප්රතිමාව ලෙස සැළකේ. ඉන්දියාවේ බුද්ධගයාවෙන් රැගෙන විත්, මෙහි රෝපණය කර ඇති බෝධි වෘක්ෂය තවමත් උසින් මීටර් දෙක තුනකට නොවැඩිය. එය කොරියාවේ දේශගුණයට විශේෂයෙන්ම සීත ඍතුවට ඔරොත්තු දෙන ලෙස ආවරණය කර ඇත. ශ්රී ලංකාවෙන් පරිත්යාග කර ඇති බුදුන්ගේ ශාරීරික ධාතු ද මෙම විහාරස්ථානය තුළ තැන්පත් කර ඇත.
